The BAB and BU HASA development forms part of ADNOC's wider effort to upgrade production facilities across two of Abu Dhabi's major onshore oilfields. Its off-plot scope includes extensive well, pipeline, gathering and supporting process infrastructure. Supplied plates are used for the fabrication of pressure vessel equipment designed for sour-service, high-pressure and high-stress operating conditions.

HIC — Hydrogen-Induced Cracking refers to internal cracking that can develop when hydrogen enters susceptible steel, particularly in wet H₂S environments.
SSC — Sulfide Stress Cracking occurs when H₂S exposure combines with tensile stress and susceptible material conditions, making material strength, hardness and fabrication control especially important.
SOHIC — Stress-Oriented Hydrogen-Induced Cracking is associated with hydrogen-induced cracking under significant local stress and can be particularly critical around highly stressed or welded areas.
In practice, specifying HIC, SSC and SOHIC resistance mean the project requires much more than a conventional pressure vessel plate.
